Well. My last entry was about a year and a half ago! Deuce and I have been working hard and very busy!! (It became evident that Deuce has quite a knack for eventing and we could go places). I decided to focus all of my efforts on Deuce and did not want young Flash to sit on the back burner so I found him a new loving home where he will enjoy many adventures.
We made our debut in the recognized horse trials field (Beginner Novice at Aspen) and were quite successful and confident as several events then moved on to Novice. We did well at Novice and on our second year at Rebecca Farm (2015), we competed in a Novice 3 Day format. Deuce was a a champion. I completely botched my Dressage test by forgetting where I was going, twice, which left us with a fat 38 at in 18th place. Deuce made up for it on the next 2 days. We were double clear in all phase of evening (steeplechase was an absolute blast!) and double clear stadium and we ended in 4th. Not bad!
Erin has been encouraging us to consider making the move to training in 2016. The technicality on cross country and height of the jumps has me a little nervous, but I am pushing forward and training like we are going to make the move up in summer 2016. Deuce is game.
I have also been working hard on Dressage. We've improved tremendously but my position has a long way to go. I have started regular lessons with Eileen about 6 months ago and she has really helped us a lot is half a year. Deuce is rocking back and pushing forward better and I am not as stiff as a rider.
So here we go charging into 2016!!!
